General information
Haiti has explicit trademark laws, and a department keeps a public register of marks and the trade names the law allows to be recorded. Adopting the Nice International Classification of Goods widened protection and replaced the old local scheme of 70 product classes.
A registration certificate is valid only inside the Republic of Haiti. Registration lasts ten years, and proof of use must be filed before the sixth anniversary of the grant. Renewals run for ten years and carry the same sixth-anniversary proof-of-use requirement; missing it leads to automatic cancellation.
