OHIM will apply 10th edition of the Nice Classification
On its website OHIM has announed that it "will apply the 10th edition of the Nice Classification as from 1 January 2012, according to a Communication of the President".
In short: this change will only affect applications that have a filing date of 1 January 2012 or after. Applications that are already pending at this date (which are those with a filing date before 1 January 2012), will not be reclassified and OHIM will not allow a reclassification on an optional basis "by request". Reclassification will also not be allowed upon the renewal of a trade mark.
